Are You Scared Of The Dark?

Are You Scared Of The Dark?

Don’t complain of dark places, light a candle.

Darkness is necessary. God does his best work in the dark. A seed is planted in the dark before it comes out into the light. God created the world in the dark.  Children are conceived and grow in the darkness of their mother’s wombs.  Weeping may last for a night (darkness) but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5).

In the beginning there was the Word and the Word was God, there was no light (Genesis 1:2) but God spoke into the darkness and brought light; He lit a candle (Genesis 1:3).  God created darkness and light; day and night but don’t confuse the night with the darkness of the enemy.  When God created night, it was for man to take rest. We gain strength in the night time. Don’t confuse Gods darkness with the enemy’s counterfeit.   Nobody enjoys darkness except satan. He is darkness and he uses that darkness to draw us to him but God delivers us into the light.  Satan can only operate in the dark and uses it to keep us there.  Whenever we want to do something wrong we turn off the lights; drug dens, parties; adultery; burglaries all acts of sin are carried out in the dark (Acts 17:11 & Isaiah 29:15).  People who do not walk in the Word of God are scared of the scriptures because it shines a light into their darkness (Job 12:22); it spotlights their sins, their wrong doings.

Even after becoming a Christian I entered into a dark place so that He could get my attention and draw me closer to Him. The faith I have and the word I share with you today were birthed in that dark place.  God needed me to light a candle. He took me there because He wanted to show me my potential; to bring me to His purpose for me and point me in the right direction.  When there seems to be no end to the darkness, no light at the end of the tunnel don’t be afraid of the dark, it is necessary. We have to be in a dark place to get disgusted with it for us to search for the light.  A plant will always seek the light.  At the end of a pregnancy term the beautiful child is birthed out of darkness into the light.  Everything of God is drawn to the light.  God is the Truth, the Way and the Light (John 14:6), the enemy is the prince of darkness; he wants to make us ignorant to the power of the Word of God.  Ignorance and darkness walks hand in hand (Ephesians 4:18).

Every successful journey has dark paths.  In order to get to your destination you will have to encounter some dark tunnels.  To get over the river you have to go through the Blackwall Tunnel or the Rotherhithe Tunnel – go through the dark to emerge into the light.  No one likes the dark tunnels but it’s God’s way of getting you to your destination.  Your tunnels and dark places are your route to your blessings. During your darkness hold on to the everlasting, unchangeable God (Isaiah 44:6) He will deliver you (Colossians 1:13).  He who delivered David from the bear, the lion and Goliath and made him a King (1 Samuel 17); He who delivered Joseph from the pit and prospered him (Genesis 37:36); He who delivered Jonah from the belly of a whale (Jonah 1:17 & 2:10) He will also deliver you from the hands of the prince of darkness.

To live in darkness is to be unequally yoked.  God does not want us to be unequally yoked.  He desires to bring light into our darkness to prosper us (2 Corinthians 6:14-18).  Water and oil can’t mix; day and night can’t mix.  We are the light of God shining in the darkness of the world.  Darkness is necessary; it is the place where we begin to look for the light.  It is where we gain strength and power over the enemy but it’s not a place where we stay.

Don’t be afraid of the dark; light a candle

In the darkest moments there is a deliverance, an enlightenment of extraordinary revelations of who and what you are about, it reveals the inner you, your stengths and your weaknesses, your vunerbility your concious being, you wrestle with you, your struggles unnfold, unwrapping in everything you do until you cannot live it, because it no longer wants to take residency within you, it begins to expel, to vomit that unwholesomeness that situation to bring about a freeing of the soul, a light within that god lit a long time ago, a flicker, a flame a, a fire burning deep within to carry his word to the world. .John 8:12 “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
